10 Aug Witjuti
Founder of Witjuti, Bianca Smee, used to love hanging out in her PJ’s. But when unexpected guests would arrive to find her walking around ready for bed in the middle of the day, things had to change.
So she decided to create an extremely comfortable, durable, and not so pajama looking style of clothing that her and her husband could wear any time of day, as travel wear, yoga wear, maternity wear and simply effortless everyday wear. This concept evolved into Bianca’s gorgeous Bamboo constructed label, Witjuti.
Witjuti (pronounced “wicheddy”) comes from Witjuti Grub and is the Indigenous spelling of the Australian Larvae – Witchetty Grub or Witchety Grub. The Witjuti Grub lives in the roots of some acacia trees and particularly in the roots of the Witchetty Bush, found in Central Australia. As it is symbolic of natural Australia and it only seems natural for an Australian clothing label to be called Witjuti.
The bamboo Wijuti uses is certified organic by The Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA), which means each bamboo stalk is 100 per cent natural and without any chemical pesticides.
