Every year, thousands if not millions of fabric swatches are produced by fabric manufacturers to show designers what is on the market for the upcoming season. The question Elizabeth Brunner asked is ‘where do all of those swatches go when they are no longer needed?’
Through serious consideration, and lots of time spent researching fabric companies, Elizabeth was drawn to devising a way of using the discarded swatches to create one of a kind garments, saving them from an otherwise fate of a far away landfill destination.
Piece x Piece is Elizabeth’s response to an overwhelming amount of waste within the fashion industry. Her garments reflect a high end purpose for an ever-changing stock of luxurious materials. Each garment is carefully constructed & painstakingly pieced together, with an incredible result of completely wearable, functional clothing.
Elizabeth has just released her new Spring range, and her online store is full of one off, hand made garments with an edge. You can even book a private shopping date in her San Francisco studio, where you can meet the designer in person, and sort through her luxe range of goods.
Elizabeth also has a limited edition knit tank run available at FaireJour. All of the fabric used in these pieces were upcylced and donated by local design houses as remnants. (images courtesy of FaireJour)
