Upcycle Us

Upcycle Us

Ohhhh I love home-wares. So much that I obsess about other peoples houses and read endless magazines checking out lounge room layouts, lighting ideas, beautiful bathrooms, and heavenly beds.

But unfortunately the production of home-wares is just as damaging on the environment as our never ending fashion flings. Which leads me to think, ‘wouldn’t it be great if we could get inspired to design our homes around recycled stuff?’ Hence the point of my post.

I just discovered this blog called Upcycled Us. Written by an anonymous author, the blog contains posts on all of these great ideas to upcycle everyday junk into beautiful home wares. There are some pretty strange concoctions inside the blog like turning cars into bookshelves and chopping up vespa’s to make computer desks, however there are also some very simple but effective DIY projects for the everyday interior enthusiast.

I also found this cool pinboard by the backyard farm wife with even more visual inspiration. Perhaps it’s worth giving some of these projects a try next time you are tempted to head down to your nearest Ikea to pick up something for your home. Much more interesting, fun and original!
